A NOTE FROM THE ADJUTANT; You are welcome to join us on our creative walks, but you must realise that whilst out and about you are responsible for yourself. If you don't feel like you can walk the advertised distance at a decent pace (approx. 2.5 miles per hour) then please don't come. We are also reluctant to welcome those who delight in chattering non-stop and who have little interest in being creative.
Saturday 22nd November This walk starts at the entrance to the Keep of Rochester Castle. We'll then walk to Temple Marsh Country Park in Strood, which has been totally neglected over the past years by the local council. Our aim is to plant trees and spruce the place up a bit. Do let us know if you are coming on this so we can ensure to buy a tree for you to plant. Our walk with then take us over the M2 motorway bridge before leading back to Rochester via Borstal.
Saturday 29th November 11 to 3.30pm - Ancient Stones and Aylesford Meet at the free car-park in Aylesford village. We'll look at the old bridge, the priory, then walk up to the viewpoint of Bluebell Hill for lunch, before returning via the ancient sites of Kits Coty and The Countless Stones.
Saturday 13th December 10.30 to 4.30pm - Medway' Christmas Present & Christmas Dinner Meet at Rochester Station, walk in the footsteps of Celine up to Jackson's Field, where we shall spend 3 hours or so picking up the litter that defaces the place (gloves and plastic bags provided). Yes, we realise the council should do this but they don't and neither do the ones who mostly make the mess - kids who frequent the schools nearby. We'll then deposit the rubbish near the rubbish bins, which hopefully the council will empty one day, and make our way to Coco Diner in Chatham by 1.30pm to launch our new 'Hillwalker Annual' and have our Christmas Dinner. All Welcome to either eat with us or drop by to pick up a copy of the book. This is our last walk of the year.
